I finally got my interior LED set for my car in last week. Makes a huge difference now inside. The only issue I have with them, which 42DD states is normal, is that the two dome lights are still lit while the lights are off. I don’t know about them but that should not be normal but whatever. Ill get used to it.

Also, I have been toying with the site again. So far little tweaks here and there. Have to still add some CSS code for this part of the site for how it works with images. The major change I made was the links. I had them such a close color to black with no underline, you could hardly see them. So I added the underline for most links but not all. Also I am still in the process of getting my SSL cert working though the entire /wordpress/wp-admin directory with no avail. That’s it for now.

So I have been slaving away trying to make a new design for this wonderful website. I wanted something fresh, simple and clean to replace my copied site. Also I am a huge fan of dark colors with bright highlights. I think this is perfect, well almost perfect, for me. It is still being tweaked but its almost there. Here is a preview of what the site will look like.

As usual the whole page is written in PHP, XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS 2.1 with some images made using Photoshop. I made everything larger than it needs to be for expansion. So even though my header is only 200px high, the image file is 400px high. Same with the Footer. This is all so that if I need to change the amount of text in the section, than I can just edit the CSS file to make it larger. Simple as that. Also I made a file for the content part of page so that when content is added, a small 5px high file that repeats untill the element ends. This makes a continuous edge shadow along the full page.

Well soon I hope to get this all up and running on the site.

Today I started working on my mobile site. So far nothing works quite right but I only started today. If you want to check it out the address is http://m.bankshouse.org. If you have a cell phone with web access, really, check it out. I made this for mostly Blackberry’s because everyone I know has one, or soon to be getting one. It is going to be build using PHP and CSS, that’s if I could actually get the CSS to cooperate.

Even though I wasn’t told I could start work on this officially but I started anyway. I am doing this more as another project and to learn more about web design/coding. I need to learn more about CSS and PHP so this is more my test bed than anything else. If you want to watch progress, check this link. I found a cool open source program that makes CSS/JavaScript menus and works on Windows, Mac OS-X and even Linux (GUI of coarse). Once I figure out how to use it, I will be replacing my current menu to a newer, better working menu. So far it looks very promising and seems like it will actually help me out. Now if only I found this when I was fighting with it months ago. Well here is the download page and the program is called QuickMenu 6. Try it out. I hope soon you will see a much better working menu on my site soon.

Still I cannot get IE to like browsing my site. It works for a fact with Firefox, Safari, and Opera but not IE. Of course Microsoft has to be different and make everything in compatible with anything related to websites. I plan on trying (Like it will ever happen) to convert the menus over to javascript or at least a script that will help the CSS do it’s work

So recently I figured out that my CSS menus don’t work in anything else but Firefox and Safari (didn’t test opera). Now I have to figure out how to make them into JavaScript or at least a few lines that will “Help” the browser out with the CSS so it works in all browsers the same. I have no time or knowledge to get this working time soon so my suggestion is to use Firefox for now and it does work in Safari but there are no borders around the menu boxes so it’s hard to see.

Well I have finally beat down the css code and got the whole menu working now. You have no idea how annoying that was, but I did it.

Vista:

Well I have been playing with vista for a few days now and I am actually starting to like it. There of coarse plenty off annoying things it does but overall not bad at all. There is something about the Aero glass I like. I think the network sharing thing was just plain stupid. I have also been testing out IE 8 beta for a bit. Crashes all the time. Mostly my site which brings me to the next topic.

CSS:

I love the idea of CSS but this is getting really frustrating. I have been working on setting up drop down menus on my site for 4 days. They still do not fully work. They do but you will see alot of bugs I have not been able to find and fix yet. I am just pulling out my hair. Think of the ACE hardware commercial where the woman cant decide the color of her room and starts pulling her hair. Think of that with not very long hair.

Anyway, if anyone knows what I am doing wrong, please e-mail me. Unless you want me to die. If so your a bad bad person.

So, the site is coming out much much better than expected, and must faster too. Its really coming out like i want it to. There is still alot to be done. I want to add drop down menus for the nav bar for sub pages or something related to that. Now all i have to do is figure that out. Also, I have gotten alot of good comments from friends and family about how well it looks. Im going to soon send an e-mail to the original designer, Sam, to check it out and ok it or just get feedback from him. I still need ideas for what to and/or how to add things to the site.
